While helping plan her daughter Dedra’s wedding, Maureen saw firsthand the staggering costs of the bridal industry. At the same time, Dedra—an accomplished pageant queen and former Ms. Black USA —recognized the financial strain placed on young women preparing for pageants and other formal milestones.
